Australia’s Chad Reed crowned World Champion
5-5-2008
LAS VEGAS, USA. Kurri Kurri’s Chad Reed has delivered Australia its latest motorcycling World Championship by winning the final round of the Monster Energy Drink AMA Supercross Series, an FIM World Championship at Sam Boyd Stadium this afternoon.
In what is being touted as the most incredible finish to a Supercross World Championship, Reed rode the final four rounds of the championship nursing a broken shoulder from a horrific practice crash three weeks ago. The Australian still maintained a 10 point lead as he went into today’s season finale.
Needing only to finish within six places of championship rival Kevin Windham, Reed was cautious off the start and sitting sixth as they rounded the first turn in the 20-lap Main Event. Not content with doing only what was necessary, Reed carved through the pack with a flawless ride to take the lead on Lap 14 of the race. By the time he greeted the chequered flag Reed held a commanding 6.7second lead.

Marmont Wins at Connondale
5-5-2008
Jay Marmont (Yamaha) has won the third round of the 2008 Rockstar Energy Drink Motocross Nationals in the Pro Opens class.
Marmont came second in the first moto however it was his convincing win by nearly 30 seconds ahead of Series leader Craig Anderson (Honda) in the second moto that secured him the round win.
Yet it was Andersons one-two finishes that saw him retain the Championship lead and the red plates heading into the next round.
The first moto was action-packed with New Zealand rider Luke Burkhart (Suzuki) crashing out in spectacular style.
While Anderson shot to the front, a tight pack formed in the middle of the field with some fantastic racing on display.

Five days until gates drop!
31-3-2008
Excitement is building for the opening round of the 2008 Rockstar Energy Drink Motocross Nationals to be held in Penguin, Tasmania on 6 April.
Riders and Teams are wrapping up their preparations before heading across Bass Straight before the 2008 Championship kicks off on Sunday.
It’s been a massive 34 weeks since the 2007 Championship ended and Event Director Kevin Williams is itching to get the action started again.
“This is going to be an electrifying Championship,” Williams said.
“We have Australia’s best Motocross riders fighting it out on Australia’s best Motocross tracks.
“The competition is going to be fierce with old rivals taking to the track and battling it out for Series points.
“I can’t wait for the first gate to drop on Sunday!”

In the no-holds-barred world of AMA Supercross, the pace is as white-hot off track as it is on.
Riders race week-in-week out, with little or no recovery time between events. For Aussie rider and current point’s leader Chad Reed, the opportunity for a quick, yet well-deserved break last weekend was just the recharge he needed.
Over the past two rounds, Reed had been hampered by wet, boggy track conditions, a niggling injury then a mystery illness, and the net result was two disappointing 7th place finishes.
The Easter break gave him time to reasses his 17-point lead and plan his next move with 5 rounds in the World Championship still remaining.
The Monster Energy AMA Supercross will break US borders for the first time this weekend as it heads to Toronto’s Rogers Centre.
